Lukera Energy selected as one of the 27 Wilkes Climate Prize semifinalists
The University of Utah's annual hunt for the world's most promising climate innovation.

Lukera Energy has been selected as one of the semifinalists for the 2026 Wilkes Climate Innovation Prize, an international competition recognizing breakthrough technologies with the potential to create meaningful climate impact.
Hosted by the Wilkes Center for Climate Science & Policy at the University of Utah, the prize supports bold, early-stage innovations tackling challenges across climate, energy, and industrial systems. The program is designed to accelerate unconventional ideas that often fall outside traditional funding pathways.
The Wilkes Climate Innovation Prize awards non-dilutive funding to companies and organizations developing scalable solutions capable of driving measurable environmental and economic change. Applicants are evaluated on innovation, feasibility, scalability, and real-world implementation potential.
At Lukera, we are developing a modular platform that converts wasted methane emissions into high-value oxygenates through low-energy electrochemical processes. Our approach is designed to unlock stranded resources, reduce emissions, and create more distributed pathways for chemical production.
Being recognized among this year’s semifinalists is an exciting milestone for our team and reinforces the growing momentum around scalable industrial decarbonization technologies.
We are grateful to the Wilkes Center and the University of Utah for supporting founders and researchers working to build practical solutions for a lower-carbon future.
